The Day My Second 2010 Stock Blythe - Nicky Lad Arrived...

Nicky Lad is my second Blythe.  She was an early, completely unexpected gift from my hubby for my birthday July 5th.  I named her Nicole Marie.  She has the prettiest, new eye chip color.

I have to say that after experiencing the Blythe clone route several years after I got my first Blythe, Simply Mango, I would definitely say to save up and buy a real Blythe, not a clone.

Clones in NO way compare to the real thing.  One of my clones came with terrible hair and a bum leg.  The other one came with uneven eye lashes and a small crack/slit in her leg that I just recently noticed.  Not wanting to do any, I did have to do some customizing of those two just to fix their flaws.  I love them too, but mostly I just feel sorry for them.  One of these days I'll post their stories.

Anyway...A Story in Pics - The Day Nicky Lad arrived...This time, this girl was just left on my porch.  I didn't have to sign for her like I did for Simply Mango.

My New Girl Is Here!

The usual unwrapping pics will follow in another post soon.

But, for now - 3 pics of Nicky Lad who I named Nicole Marie.  I think she is just the cutest thing.  The only thing I'm not completely  happy about is her hair.  I like the short cut and the color, but it's a bit frizzy on the ends.   :o(  She just might have some bad hair days ahead of her.

I DO really love this new eye chip color of pale blue which is one of the reasons I chose her.

Another Girl Is Arriving Soon To Live With Us!!!

.

In a little over a month it will be 2 years since I got my first Blythe for my birthday.  She was a gift to myself.  When I learned that there was a Blythe that came with her own pet Chihuahua - I overlooked her orange hair and just had to have her for obvious reasons.  I named her Margo and her doggie Chico which is my Chihuahua's name  Well...

As a bit early birthday gift this year I was super surprised when my hubby told me if I've seen a Blythe doll that I want to just go ahead and get it and that I'm worth it!  I'm so excited...When I told him how much she'd cost he said he'd rather get me that than some other things for my birthday.

She's another stock Blythe and has already been ordered.  She is flying in from Hong Kong.  Margo came from Japan.  Hopefully, she will arrive sometime next week so I can introduce her.

I'll wait until she arrives before saying who she is.  But, I will say that I've already named her Nicole Marie and she's quite cute and comes with some really cute clothes and accessories.  I will also say that she has a special eye color besides the blue, pink, and green eyes that Margo has.  The new eye color will replace the orange that she also has.

Problems At The Blythe House

Margo just found out she needs reading glasses and CC suffers from --- we all have them --- the stretched out waistband panties syndrome.

Margo will be fine.  Actually, she looks rather cute in her new, purple glasses, but it's back to the drawing board for me trying to make CC (A Blythe clone) some respectable panties.
I lost my new, vintage Skipper pattern piece for panties so I've been trying to design my own.

Friends and Pets

Felt Skirt For Blythe

I found this really easy mini skirt to make for your Blythe doll out of felt and this is my version of it. My girl, Margo, is modeling it and her doggie Chico waits patiently to go for a walk. I used a couple of snaps in the back instead of the velcro. Mine was sewn using just a needle and thread, no machine. As always, click a pic to see more detail. You can find the pattern HERE.

I also made a cute, little love seat tonight out of sponges, fabric, cardboard, and buttons using my glue gun and my sewing machine. I'll post a picture of it soon along with the youtube video that inspired me to try making one. It was one of those everything went perfect projects. I do sometimes have those.

A funny Blythe story...

I have a funny Blythe story..

The other night I was struggling to finish sewing a dress from a pattern I'd never used before. It was one of those nights of sewing when I don't see how anyone sews things this little. Anyway, I was determined to get it done no matter what and in the end I was successful. It looked pretty good, and I also had notes to make the next dress sewn from this pattern go a bit more smoothly.

I was so proud of my achievement that I took my Blythe all dressed in her new dress to my bedroom and set her on my vanity so I could see her when I got up in the morning reminding me that even though I'd hit a snag or two I stuck with it and finished that dress.

My Chihuahua Chico didn't originally see me set her there, but when he did finally see her later that night in dim light he started growling and barking at her as if she was a real, little person.

It was so funny, even after I showed him she wasn't real he still wasn't so sure he wanted her watching him sleep.
